This digital resource can assist researchers in dating geniza fragments that do not explicitly mention years of recording but instead retain numismatic data. In many instances, the production history of coinage can aid us in estimating the earliest year in which a text may have been recorded. The timeline is based on each coinage type's initial year of production or the year in which its standards were modified by specific rulers (as regnal variants). The timeline also includes coinage types that are currently unattested, however, they may be discovered in the future and assist us in dating geniza fragments. In the process of developing this resource, we compiled the dateable entries within a broader glossary that includes economic units from the medieval and early modern Cairo Geniza.
